So here we are, at HfG Karlsruhe. What we learn from all that mess in part 1? There’s always a way, somehow. And things are gonna be alright after all.

I always had a good feeling about HfG. I do not know how to explain that. In german you would call it „Bauchgefühl“. Intuition. Maybe it is like that. Interestingly enough, HfG was the very first university I applied to in 2024. And it was my very last application in 2025. And then I got accepted. The only acception I’ve ever got from an university. It’s feels like completing a circle.

And telling you what, I was super nervous, when the first week came around. But already on the first day, I felt good about it, the people around me were really nice and accepting. Throughout the week, it felt more and more right. And as the days proceeded, I was confirmed, that this was the decision after all.

In the meantime a lot happened. Excursion to Stromboli, writing a scene for a play, having the first HiWi-job, landsliding into AStA, becoming increasingly engaged, making another excursion, (somehow) mastering Rundgang, attempting a project and then ending up not doing it, befriending the school’s event technicians, becoming a tech guy myself and so much more.

And there was Lichtspielsauna. Someone wrote a mail in december, that a local media arts community – mostly HfG-People – was looking for members. And it sounded good, so I got in touch, and became a member. In the meantime I did the tech for two events, learnt a lot about (Media) Arts, and met another bunch of friends.

After two semesters, I can only say thank you.
To all those persons who welcomed me, to all the other newbies that we took this on together, those who trusted me and still do, those who chose to me represent them, to all those who became close friends, and all those from whom I am able to learn from.
    Big thanks, see you around.

  • Recap (1)

Damn, this has been a long time since we last heard of each other, no?

Yeah, it’s been while. And a bunch of things has happened in the meantime. The last time I wrote something, is already two years ago – summer 2024. I was still suffering from uncertainty, since all my university application were rejecting and I did not really have something to do.

Yeah, things already changed in october ’24. My former employer – Badisches Staatstheater – asked me to come back and jump in on short notice, as they were in need of another assistant director in the Youth Theatre production „Alice in Wonderland“. Happy to be back, I threw myself into a production, that should provide a series of challenges throughout the rehearsals. Either, we made the best out of it, and had a wonderful premiere. My will to do theatre in the future was challenge, yet my resolve persisted.

Beginning from December, I started preparing my applications, this time less arts and more theatre direction. Concurrently, I was still able to do theatre, which meant, that from February ’25 onwards, I was part of a theatre club with weekly rehearsals. At least a bit of routine. We premiered in July, and even though our piece wasn’t the greatest, we had a lot of fun, and I was very happy that I met most of the cast again in november for the next theatre club.

Either way, the application were not going super well. Over half a year, I got nothing except a bunch of rejections. Even though I had professional advice and was able to learn a lot about dramaturgy and conception – thanks to Anna Haas for this btw – yet it did’nt work out. Until, HfG came into place. Although, that one was a bit back and forth. I decided to take a portfolio consultion in february, made a new portfolio, applied in april, was invited to the entry exam in june, and then, for a time , did not get any reply. Until, mid of july, end rehearsals of my theatre project, kaboom: rejection. And the next day: a new document in HiSinOne. After hours I decided to take a look into it, next kaboom: I was accepted. The emotional roller coaster was resolved, for now.

So here we are, at HfG Karlsruhe. But more about that in the next part.

  • Hello World!

About a year ago, I started this page, to testify and improve my web-design skills and to share my work and thoughts with the world. And then, this project lied down in a drawer, as i either missed the time or the endurance to manage it. During that year, many things changed for me:
I entered my twenties, learned many things about theatre, making my stage debut and getting rejecting at all universities I applied to.

I learned the harder way how to feel emotions, and how to let go of things, something I did not always manage properly in the past. Meanwhile I became hyperfocused on theatre, so I did not just work in the marketing department, but also played on stage, assisted in a production and so much more, that on some days I casually spend over 12 hours there.
In the end I decided that theatre was going to be a fundamental part of my future.

Now I am here. I developed largely, and yet I do not have the feeling that I got very far by now. So I just get back to some things which have lying around in the corner, like this website. If this is a start for some sort of a blog? I do not know. Maybe it is, maybe not. So I may occassionally write about stuff I am currently thinking about, if you’d call it a blog, is up to you.
